Kind of curious if the various 'black' carvings (elephants, bowl, figures) are 'black lacquered' or were they made from ebony wood?

I would love to do what you do. I have considered it but our shop hasnt gotten off the ground enough yet, One piece of advice is check labels in clothes before you donate them. In the estates I have gone through I have found some that sell great for decent money. Also the calif piece I am sure you have found out by now it can be decent money as long as the piece is intact.

Not a problem. I love going into estates like the storage bins. In central Ilinois if you are very lucky to get a bin usually its a mess of work. We have an Antique, Vintage, Collectibles and gift shop and have been fortunate to get a few estates at a good price. We also bought out a few stores and antique shops to get out inventory (150,000-250,000 items between out warehouse and our showroom and the building which is half a city block long is still cram packed...lol So I understand your need for a warehouse.

Maybe if you actually uploaded some videos you would understand how USclip works. USclip gives you three screenshots of your video to use as a thumbnail. They are random and usually contain nothing whatsoever. Therefore you have to upload a custom thumbnail that pertains somehow to your video. What is it that you think I should have uploaded instead of a safe since I found a safe and I'm going to open a safe? A picture of a duck?

Today I see you unloading green glass, also can be worth alot but you have to take the time to look stuff up. Sometimes it might just look like junk but inreality worth lots of $$$$. I really like the way you unpack your items shows me you have respect for those that lost. I have seen some unpack and I just cring watching them mutilate someones life so to speak.

    • What The Hales
What The Hales  18 days ago +1

I do not suggest attempting to find previous owners. 90% of the units I buy are because the owners are in jail. 5% is due to death with no heir. And the last 5%, the people has vanished and can not be located. You don't need the stalking, harassment and threats that come from people when they find out that you LEGALLY own their previous possessions.

First off well said at the start. It's better someone make a living out of it giving as much as you can a second home & stopping it going to landfill.
The fake rock is a rose quartz. It is a peaceful loving growing gemstone not rare but a nice size in the UK it would be about £10 to £15. In the glass bin, you had two Glass beer tankers should hold 1pint or 1/2pint not many pubs use them now. then what you said were sundae glasses they are champion bowls very 1960's. The green glass is mostly a cocktail glass the clear glass that was wrapped with one of the green is a wine glass & if my mind isn't playing tricks with me it is for red wine.

On the green glass it is called depression glass or theater glass because when you went to the movies the movie theater would give it out when you bought a ticket or bought a bunch of drinks and candy. It was mostly given out before WW2 or during and a little bit after. certain stores would give it out also when you purchased over a certain amount of items. There are about five to ten colors that was made yellow, red, green, blue, cranberry and dark red.
