Who is Joe Rogan? With Jordan Peterson

  • Published on Jun 16, 2019
  • Podcast available in two parts at bit.ly/2XPkmii and bit.ly/2R2pyN5
Joe Rogan needs little introduction. Host of what is perhaps the most widely known podcast in the world, the Joe Rogan Experience, he is also a former martial arts champion, a TV star (Hardball and News Radio, Fear Factor), a UFC commentator, and an exceptionally successful standup comedian, with several Netflix specials under his belt, as well as numerous comedy CDs.
He's a very effective and engaing interviewer. He asks tough questions. He has his own point of view. But he listens, and he treats his audience with respect. They return the favor, with hundreds of millions downloading his podcast and watching the Joe Rogan Experience on USclip (bit.ly/2XmYcXP) with more than 5.5 million subscribers.
He's been a great friend to me.

My least favorite part of a three-hour-long podcast is the last 10 minutes when everything's dying down and you know that the great conversation is coming to an end

Well, he is a guy who puts his efforts into machismo weight lifting so he can lecture people on being manly while hanging out with guys with big boners. He thinks he has a free thinking podcast, but in reality it is a blue pill shit house for conformists. He can't bare to accept that anything is a conspiracy and plays the "middle of the road" card in order to diffuse anything that might be controversial.

Around 1:20:00 You can tell how much it was bothering him while he was remembering “beating the fuck out of eachother, and I was scared, I was scared and anxious all the time.” You can really see it in his body language how much it bothers him. Peterson noticed it and his work began, he quickly throws a simple joke to lighten the mood, but also was meant to guide him. He guides him into a better way of thinking about his past.
The ways we feel about things in our pasts tells us that something is wrong and needs to be dealt with. Sometimes it can be really hard, but Joe is such an open person, and Peterson is so skilled at being a psychologist, that it was kind of easy for him to fix that part of his past.

A.D.D and A.D.H.D do exist. You don't outgrow them with age, however. some are able to manage symptoms better. Joe definitely has A.D.D. "Hyperfocusing" on passions and interests and having little to no attention or motivation for others is extremely common. It has to do with Attention Deficit's serotonin production imbalances - an overload or underwhelming of happiness and enjoyment.

Poor clarity of the mic paired with poor connection make for a difficult listen... Video conferencing services need to introduce a best-recording playback feature, where device-side video & audio recordings are made on all ends and paired up on the fly, or in a manner that least impacts the live conference quality, say if bandwidth is an issue. Would require permission from all participants to use their device resources in such a way, then perhaps detect next best device recording if any participant declines. Software entrepreneurs, get it done! Nobody should have to suffer like this!

All they gotta do is rename the paralympics to the diversity olympics (or some such thing) and have these athletes compete in that forum. This way no one gets upset and women's sports can have its true nomencalture restored.

Dr. Peterson, it's interesting how amused you were by your own rule for your children that "if you can't handle experimenting, then you are pathetic". I mean, isn't a lot of what you do orientated towards helping people who have struggled with things like addiction and having an unhelpful worldview? I personally couldn't handle experimenting with drugs as a teenager and it has caused me a lot of problems in my life. I have often looked to your videos for advice and inspiration and now you are saying that you told your own children if they can't handle drugs they are pathetic and then you laugh about it?
