Some guy seriously argued with me when I said detective pikachu looked bad and I had to just say "whatever, you win" to end it. I think some of the hype crew may be bots but many people are actually like that unfortunately. For the look of the pokemon they should be more cartoony or atleast monocolor sides, maybe just like one of the toys, or like Adum said like in pokemon stadium wii. Watch this will kill off pokemon like what happened to transformers if it gets popular.

Theres a documentary called The Vietnam War on netflix, its very long but it's actually really good and informative, unlike many on the subject it seems pretty unbiased. It shows the atrocities of both sides and how america pretty much abandoned the south and how the north was taken over from a revolution led by ho chi min to an authoritarian rule. good stuff

So about Don't Look Now. I am italian so i wanted to give some info: you didn't miss much considering what was subtitled and what wasn't, but maybe there were some things that would have made you appreciate the movie more (I think, not really sure about this, maybe it would have felt more real). The italian dialogue was mostly good, even tho they tried to use an italian saying, except they wrote it wrong. Like, the character should have said:"you are a friend", but instead he said "we are friends", which is grammatically correct but doesn't make sense considering the situation. Also the guy who played the policeman, like the main one, is a very well known italian actor, most famous for one of the best italian comedies "Ricomincio da tre". I didn't expect him being there, so that made me smile.

I liked the haunting of hill house. Granted it's not a masterpiece, but I think it deserves a 7, or at least a 6. I don't think Adam has a lot of patience for tv shows ahah I mean considering he didn't like Mr. Robot, maybe his tastes just doesn't coincides with mine. Weird tho, I often agree with him when it comes to movies.

I'd love to hear Michael from LFTS on the podcast. It'd be fascinating to see how his unedited personality plays out and meshes with everyone, plus I've always wanted to see him elaborate on his thoughts around any given movie or topic surrounding film. Cheers

  • Can we get 100 subs with just three dumb videos

I love Toy Story, and most Pixar movies to that fact, but, my thoughts on Toy Story 4 is kind of weird. I liked the trailer, and the story has a potential. But the description is worrying and Toy Story 3 ended PERFECTLY! I don’t know, but Pixar is turning into a money hungry company :(
It’s so sad to see this good company run into the ground. As you guys said, the golden age is over :(
And there were so many good ideas! But oh well, we will always have the amazing old films to watch. I mean, they have a few good ones, but yeah.
P.S. That remake idea is cool, but it could be terrible, as said.

Don’t Look Now is a beautiful British Giallo. I’m surprised Adum and Alex don’t like it as much as Ralph. Well I guess it makes sense since Adum doesn’t even like the original Suspiria. Y’all really don’t watch enough older films and especially stuff from Italy back then. Those zooms Adum found cheesy are so common. The 70’s aren’t even that old for you to be like “well it’s old and for the time”.
I can’t imagine being so into the art of film and finding the 70’s so dated that you need to make excuses for it. Seriously try and delve into more older films and understand the deeper context of a medium that’s over 100 year olds. Why would you ever watch the original Suspiria without even looking into Dario Argento’s career or the entire Italian horror movement of the time.
You say Hereditary takes influence from this and that because we’ve come so far that they’re able to make a better film now. But I don’t like Hereditary. I think it’s a stuffy full of itself prestige film that acts as if it’s the new Shining or Rosemary’s Baby when it solely feels like a film made by a director ashamed of the genre he’s working with. It’s horror for people who don’t know anything about the horror genre and only give credit to films like the two I just mentioned. I feel the same way about the new Suspiria. There’s a wealth of great films in the genre from Carpenter’s to Argento’s to Fulci’s and Sergio Martino’s, but you have to understand the stylistic and tonal difference in how their work is presented to appreciate them.
I’m seriously not trying to be one of those guys that Ralph caricatures as “you don’t get it bro, I only like old movies because I’m supposed to”. But there’s a real genuine critique I’m making of the approach here.

    • slimkt
      slimkt 20 days ago

You can disagree with someone's opinion and still enjoy their content. That being said, this topic has followed Adam for a few years now, so in case you were new to his opinions, I'd just like to post an excerpt of some of Adam's expansion upon his initial thoughts from several of his long comments on the subject.
"I do not believe zoophiles should be jailed for committing acts on animals that are already being committed by animal breeders who are legally allowed to do so for completely unnecessary industries like selective breeding for horse racing and puppy mills."
"...If the animal's comfortable and there's no sign of any distress, I don't see the issue. If someone's forcing an animal to do something it's uncomfortable with, I obviously take issue with that.
People shouldn't physically interact with animals in ways that are obviously discomforting to them; sexual or otherwise."
Basically, just comparing the two in a "how is this any worse than the other" kind of way.
You may still disagree with his views and want to unsubscribe and I highly doubt the guys would care if you choose to, but I figured I'd put out more available info so you can make an informed decision. Peace!

Pixar ain't what it used to be, although Adum places too much importance on those napkin ideas. It wasn't some divine moment of creation, they just sat down and listed some things they could animate well. Toys, Bugs, Robots, etc. It wasn't even a plan so much as a list of ways to avoid animating humans. They came up with some original premises, but the actual films were never consistent in quality. Toy Story and Finding Nemo were the only ideas that came out great, plus Incredibles & Ratatouille were "just afterthoughts" that turned out better than Monsters Inc, Bug's Life or Wall-E.

    • Nobody Special
      Nobody Special 14 days ago

+Kosta Jovanovic There's stuff to appreciate about Monsters Inc, visually and conceptually, but I think it's easily one of the weakest early Pixar films. I also don't care much for Wall-E after they get on the human ship. It's fine, it's just the same as Up for me, they front-loaded the film with everything special about it. Why?

I think I'm one of the lucky ones because I caught Don't Look Now on TV one night like 15 years ago while all alone in my dark bedroom and I'd never heard of this film until then and also, I was a kid who wasn't used to watching scary movies at the time, so this film shook me to my core with its ending. It was a very cool experience but I can see how this is just not gonna happen today in the same way when there's hype culture :P

A complete misrepresentation of the topic and the information in that documentary.
