Everything Wrong With Star Trek Beyond In 17 Minutes Or Less

  • Published on Dec 13, 2016
  • Star Trek Beyond, the third entry to this current series, is actually pretty fun, and was a bright spot in a horrible summer of movies. Still not perfect, so here are its sins.
    Thursday: Another space movie.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

Why would Hikaru Sulu being gay in a Star Trek movie be the antithesis of "acting?" Does George Takei know about this? Or was J J Abrams correct in his assertion that Spock would be the only personality of a character that could truly subsist in this universe? Once again, I hope that these people are wrong.

0:37 okay, i shoulda raised an eyebrow to this particular scene the first day you posted this sin video. of course, it's a great scene and all, but still, you're telling me that Kirk never knew the actual size of those fuckers from the very beginning? he literally just put on his "WTF face" right he saw they were tiny. and i'm like doing a similar face as well, but because how the fuck could Kirk be so surprised by this?

Interchangeable? As in, "not suitable to be changed?" It's an honest enough mistake, but you clearly meant, "interchangeative," and whoever wrote the script or edited the video thinks the two words are inoperable.

UHF frequencies are not audible to the human ear. Transmitting UHF does not require music.
Simply playing music cannot produce UHF frequencies to kill the enemy fleet.
While TV signals used to be broadcast using UHF, humans could not hear the broadcast without a television set to convert the UHF signal to visual and audio that we can hear.

This movies is the same post 2010 Cinema tripe that floods the movie market today. Writing and character development are horrible and rely on extended action sequences to replace storyline. Storyline obviously being geared to set up for aforesaid overused action sequences. This is not a Star Trek only sin however. Marvel universe is nothing more than the same script set on repeat, I got tired of Batman after the Nolan Trilogy (Which was very good by the way) and how many times are we going to visit a present Star Wars incarnation that looks like it was filmed and written by someone with severe ADHD. Gone are the days of epic storytelling like Wrath of Khan or original sci fi ideas like "The Matrix". Right now the Silver Screen is the most mediocre it has ever been and its not just a JJ verse issue.

I liked individual scenes but the movie as a whole sucks
Is it just me, or are the drones highly illogical? They are all the same size, so when they impact on a ship they are expecting that the walls of the ship are the same thickness and made of the same material.

The Treaty of Algeron would be signed in 2311 after the Tomed Incident. This movie takes place in 2263, and for that matter in a timeline that was radically altered in 2233 so that incident may never even occur.

Correction: In Star Trek TNG it is confirmed in "The Pegasus" that cloaking has been invented and reinvented multiple times within Starfleet and other Federation Science circles. It has never been implemented as, up until that episode, it had been next to impossible to do so on a moving object. Jaylah could set them up as the ship was stationary, and you see them fail/glitch even with slight movement. It also violated the Algeron Treaty in later reincarnations of ST, hence why it has never been used by Starfleet.

Clearly you’ve never known that pieces of ships do survive various forms of destruction. Take the practice carriers that were used in Lake Michigan for training during ww2, plenty sank (with planes on board) and plenty survived.
Gene Roddenberry and George Takei consulted with project managers at nbc about stating the character was gay, the network agreed but changed position because of Kirk kissing Uhura.
You’re nitpicky to the point that I think you folks aren’t movie fans.
