The new Modern Warfare. I was running 16gb dual ram, 2080 super i9 9900k and the max ram usage went up to 12gb. I then changed to 32gb ram all 4 dims and the usage went up to 15gb at one point. Same in-game settings of maximum.

im currently workign out a build to buy my next new rig. however ive found an issue that i need answering. i hope to buy 128gb of memory but wish to also buy a i9 9900ks and a z390 board. however, all the z390 borads advertise as 64gb maximum. ive been told that intel released bios updates so z390 boards can use upto 128gb. however with a new build, will i have an issue inserting a 32gb stick, in order to boot the system into windows inorder to download andi nstall the bios updates even though the board at this board doesnt support it?
    please help.

You shouldn'd be recommending 4GB ram chips in Oct, 2019. A single 8Gb ram chip is more futureproof.

The only time I've had problems with memory was with Doom 2016. Crashed a lot with 8 GB. Problem solved with 16 GB. So for now I'd say that 16 GB is good enough.

And who told you that single channel is just fine? Seems to me that you're "lying" a little bit here. No one ever told you that.

I just got done doing a Ryzen build and there was this diagram showing where to put the memory depending on speed and which cpu I was using. I couldn’t figure it out so I just said “f” it and just went a1-b1.

I think he should have mentioned looking up motherboard info for single vs dual vs quad channel setups because some boards hate and limit speed on quad channel

8Gigs is not enough considering all the background programs these days, steam, discord, what ever software your mouse, keyboard, rgb has.... and then someone links you something and you happen to have browser open. And there you are, over your 8 gigs and bringing the game crashing down.

I've always wondered about kits that come with 4 memory sticks, is it really that different from buying two times 2 sticks (same brand, model and everything)? I ask because often the 4 dimm package is more than twice as expensive as the 2 dimm package.

Dual is better, you're splitting the work load in 2, its better to have two smaller guys than just one big guy.

@JayzTowCents could you run the wow ogrimar test on 4-16 thread cpus? traditional wisdom is that clock speed is king in game performance but i wonder if updating positions of 100 characters every frame in an MMO is something that can make more use of parallelization than first person shooters that are used for benchmarking in most reviews.
