Maybe Liston ducked because he was tell someone to shoot Ali. Cause you can see his mouth moving. HOW DOES NO ONE SEES THIS. Plus there are guys wearing black suits and sunglasses in a line only looking at Ali at 14:00.

  • Jlive. 60

Ryan I gta say with the mob and the nation around this it could be a conspiracy but when I see that footage it clearly shows a straight right with his heavy foot planted landing solid. He got hit on the button and it was lights out. You can see his necc and head at the moment of impact. I don’t see him taking a dive. Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve been a fighter for a long time boxing & mma and it looks legit to me. I’ve seen guys in sparring and training way more than I’ve seen sanctioned fights and sometimes you get dropped off a stiff jab or unorthodox punch. Others you can get hit with a trucc and move forward.

You people have no knowledge of boxing, although power does help in achieving a knock out punch, it's not a necessity, precision works just as well. You can clearly see that punch connect, making listons head quickly jerk back and fourth. That's all it takes to knock you down/out. Its basic physiology

  • Ali Rashada

It was not a phantom punch it was a Jack Johnson Anchor Punch

  • Idontknowwhat2type
    Idontknowwhat2type 8 days ago

Anyone who’s been in a fight knows the jaw can bring down anyone. Punch doesn’t have to be hard at all. A good shot in the sweet spot makes your head spin and you lose balance and it takes a few seconds to figure out where you’re at.
    Perfectly normal.

I think it’s a knockout, Floyd Mayweather fought Diego Corrales on January 20,2001 in the last round at 1:37 into the fight mayweather hits a similar punch and staggers corrales its likely that Ali hit sonny with enough power to cause a knockout

You can see on the slo-mo that Liston gets hit in the temple which has nerves and you can get knocked out easier. The knock down looked legit, the part that looked fake was Liston getting up to one knee then falling over

the punch was legit. You don't need much force to ko anyone when they're moving mid combo. Listons punch dragged him forward Ali pulled and all he needed to do was clip his chin. Coupled with the fact that Ali already dropped him before that I don't really see the controversy.

The punch looked like it was hard enough to shake Liston's head, I think it's just a matter of being a perfectly placed and timed punch as Liston leaned into it. Precision of punches is more important than a lot of people think, that's why someone like boxer Prince Naseem or UFC star Conor McGregor can have so many KO victories, despite being relatively small men in their respective sports.
