I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

Why can people not understand to leave working dogs alone. It is ridiculous that there is anyone in this day and age that wouldn't understand that harness means he is working.

Why is everyone FREAKING OUT about someone asking to pet the service dog. Most people will just pet it. At least they ask it’s very kind.

Actually, sighted people just need to pay attention, and know that a girl with a dog with that king of harness (or a white cane) is blind and will not see you.

I know for a fact I am not as smart as a guide dog. While guiding a blind friend who was taller than me, I walked him into a tree branch.
I felt horrible and I was super embarrassed. Oddly enough he said he still trusted me as a guide. Trusted me more in fact.
Later (much later) I even trained as a ski guide. Now that was fun. Demanding, but fun. You have to really pay attention when guiding a blind person at high speed, especially with so many idiots out there. Never had an accident though.

Wow! I’m so glad I watched this because there are multiple people with service dogs where I go to college, which I was tempted to touch every time, but I generally never touch a dog without permission or if I see them with a harness. However, this helps me understand why it’s important not to touch at all. Plus , I was curious. Thanks Molly!

Wth they were so many people who filmed you! O.o

It may sound inconvenient at first but having a guide dog know commands only in a different language is actually quite helpful. Imagine how confusing it would be if you (the owner of the service dog) said "let's go" but there were also like 20 people around you in the crowded store saying things like "right" and "stop" and "good."

I love dogs so much but I'm glad that I know now not to give even a bit of an eye contact to a working dog to not to distract him. I'm just one person but I will educate anyone I see bothering the working dogs I can be very assertive when I believe something is not right :D

  • Emily Lovely

Thank you for this. As a sighted dog-lover, I always avoid service dogs even though I want to love them. But I was totally unaware that staring could also be a distraction. I am so sorry! I will absolutely be better about ensuring I am not a distraction to service dogs and their owners!

I have a really hard time telling where sounds are coming from , so I can't tell if it's save to cross just by listening , I'm very thankful for good eye sight otherwise my life would be very confusing and scary , I get stress blindness but luckily it only lasts a minute at most
