I remember as a boy when this came out and was overshadowed by the F40.
But as a kid, I was hooked on the Countach QV.
I still think this is the 2nd best looking Porsche roadcar built behind the Carrera GT.
Bill Gates wrecked his 959 and an F40, soon after delivery! LOL.
Too bad so many have been moded by Canepa to S3 640bhp and many other mods.
Could u please do a review of a Jag XJR-15 or XJ220 please.

When I was a kid I used to have many toy cars and there were two of the same size which were my favourites ones: a black ferrari and a white porsche... ...some time later I discovered they were a Ferrari F40 and a Porsche 959.... If I only knew what I was holding in my hands........ Whatever, never felt better to have those, even if they were just toys.

I remember being 16 and getting the mail one day. There was a cardboard tube from Porsche addressed to my dad. Inside was a poster of the 959, a brochure that was like a book of 911 history & design plus beautifully detailed cutaway artwork & technical specifications for the 959, and a hand-signed letter from Dr. Ferry Porsche inviting dad to own one of the upcoming supercars. Dad said "that's the car I saw in the R&D building they wouldn't let me take pictures of" two years prior when he had been at the factory for a tour and track time after taking deliver of three 944s. The letter stipulated five times in three pages that the 959 was "not legal for highway use in the USA" and was "never to be operated upon a U.S. highway." The price was just under $250,000U.S., and dad laughed and said "for a car we can't drive?!" He passed on the offer.
Within a year, he was kicking himself often, especially when M.S.O.s and title bonds for the 959 were trading at $750k before the cars were even being built!

I read that the gelande gear is actually the first gear. but to be aproved on some noise laws, it had to do a launch at full speed in first gear and it had to be below a certain noise volume at redline. Because it starts in 2nd gear, it reaches the redline further of the microphone doing the volume check. Don't know if it is true or not, maybe someone from Germany can confirm is this law was something real or not

The Porsche 959 is a beautiful, powerful and high tech off road sport car. I like the 959 hydraulic suspension that can be raise and lower. The Porsche participated in the Paris to Dakar Sahara desert car rally or race that started in the city of Paris France and end in the city of Dakar in Senegal. This was one of the longest and hardest off road race in the world that happened mainly in the hot and sandy Sahara desert in Africa. I remember there was a rich businessman that own a 959 on his vacation home in the Dominican Republic and the Microsoft Billionaire Bill Gates own a Porsche 959.

From Autobild.
Means: Because the engine was too loud, porsche declared the first gear to the Offroad gear, so the measurement was one gear further up which means more silent so it passed ;)

Porsche can make a really fast exquisite car along with common car comforts such as power seats in this whereas F40 didn't, same for porsche 918 , it has all sort of comforts you can expect from a modern car whereas the p1 doesn't but both are brutally fast.

The Walther Röhrl Porsche! The only true ancestor of the Ur-Quattro! IN *RED?* *REALLY?*
If this paintjob is originally done in Zuffenhausen, I feel the force making me ask myself:
    What went wrong?
This unexplainable piece of engineering art should have only been shipped in three paintjobs to choose from.
Those being white, anthracite, and silver.
No red, blue, or racing green.
A RED Porsche???? And not only "a" Porsche, but the finest one?
    Soooo sad.

I´ve read an anecdote in a German car magazine, that during the development of the 959 chief R/D engineer Helmut Bott returned from a test drive and said to his staff: "At 125 mph the car feels a bit squirmy..." The engineers were shocked before he added: "...on gravel..."

I think the rationale for the over made first aid kit is that Porsche thought that the car would be commonplace in offroading or rally, which can give some really nasty accidents.
