I think everyone is missing the point, including Trevor Noah and this Ronnie dude, nearly all the hate you see for lawsuits comes from companies not wanting to be sued, AKA the same companies that have zero morals and abuse every single law they can to make their profit margin as large as possible, including law suits against private citizens that bankrupt them.
McDonalds has done it the most brazenly, by forcing the old woman into a non-disclosure agreement, and then lying and paying the media to circulate their version of the lawsuit.
Private citizens deserve some form of retribution/recompense when a company screws them. And the point of, you get your money back, is the dumbest thing I have heard today. That means there is zero punishment for lying to customers, which allows them to swindle millions of people and only have to pay a handful of them back. Imagine if we took the same idea to crime, you can steal a 5 million dollar diamond, but if you get caught you have to give it back. How dumb is this idiot.

Yes "we" care where our chocolate is from cuz cheap chocolate-candies made in the US have wax in the ingredients! I don't want to eat wax in my chocolate! We don't think it's from Poland (one L). I absolutely care that my spring water, label 100%, comes from an actual spring and not a well. If I'm paying my hard earned money for better/healthier food products than give me what you put on the label. This segment was stupid!

And how does suing nestle water relate to Flint Michigan?
Instead of feeling sorry for giant corporations that lie to people to sell potentially harmful products why not support those victimized by them?

Great small segment on a very stupid set of lawsuit actions, with a funny bit at the end.
Not to put down lawsuits in general against corporate scams, but there's a line between "Oh this product actually contains a nasty ingredient that they slyly lie about" , and "Oh it's made in Tennessee instead of Connecticut".
Please, have a sense of proportion and scale before you go sue-happy!

Ok I just want to point a few things out here. Out of the 3 lawsuits covered in this clip [Godiva, TGI Friday's, & Poland Spring,] only 1 of those lawsuits have actually been allowed to go forward so far, the other 2 are very recent lawsuits filed & in case people were not aware of it *anyone* can file a lawsuit for literally *anything* they want... it just won't necessarily be allowed to go forward after a judge looks at it & if an actual lawyer filed the suit they could face disciplinary actions for filing obviously frivolous & baseless lawsuits [a non-lawyer who files lawsuits can potentially face consequences as well though it is much less likely as the only consequences that could happen are legal ones & therefore someone would need to file numerous baseless lawsuits before such consequences would even be considered.]
The 1 lawsuit that has been allowed to go forward is the Poland Spring case & the reason why it has been allowed to go forward is *not* because the claimants are accusing them of not actually getting the water from a spring in Poland, but because on their bottle's beneath the Poland Spring name it says "100% Natural Spring Water". Now, this case may or may not end up being successful, but not because the lawsuit is frivolous or baseless [in fact the claims made in the lawsuit are 100% true,] but because of the weak regulatory definition used to define what is "spring water" by the FDA. There is no dispute by anyone that the claims about where they are getting their water from.
The other 2 lawsuits I doubt will end up going anywhere [though to be clear I am not a lawyer licensed in the states where the lawsuits are taking place, nor am I Judge in said states.] The Godiva lawsuit is less likely, in my opinion, to go anywhere as the company was founded in Belgium in 1926 which is why that is on the label... if one was to associate the Belgium portion of the words as meaning it was chocolate made in Belgium then that would also mean they are taking the 1926 as meaning it was made in 1926... which is ludicrous. I would give this lawsuit less than a 1% chance of going forward. The TGI Friday's case is also incredibly unlikely to go anywhere, though I do think it has a better shot than the Godiva one [though still less than a 5% chance.] I actually read the 23-page complaint that was filed in the court because although I think this claim is obviously ridiculous, I do firmly believe that regulatory oversight in this country of businesses is extremely lax & companies are allowed to get away with way more than they should be allowed to do. The reasons why I do not think this will go anywhere is because on the bags it says "Potato Skins Snack Chips" on the front & the back, then also on the back it specifically says they use "real potatoes" which is true [even the claimant acknowledges this] while specifically not saying it contains real potato skins.
