One thing I don't understand is why the launch rockets close to sea levels. Wouldn't it save a lot of fuel to launch from some high altitude place?

@psycleen Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your question is why rocket engines apply a force, even though there isn't air to push against. They work just the same as they do inside the earth's atmosphere. In simplest form, rockets just spitting out heated gas in the opposite direction to where they want to go. Newton's 3rd law of motion states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This means that if we shoot highly compressed, extremely hot gas out the rocket's engine nossel at really high speeds, the momentum of those particles being shot outwards will be transferred to the spacecraft, therefore, causing it to accelerate.

I tried to explain in the best way I could. If you want a more detailed answer, I suggest checking out everyday astronaut's vids. Hoped this helped!

SpaceX, when you launched your first set of Starlink internet satellites in May, those with their eyes attuned to the night sky immediately realized that the objects were incredibly bright.

    Dude.
Kerosene & internal combustion engine are hogwash.
Simply "burning fossil fuels" -- is foolish. You'll not be able to go to Mars using kerosene.
Focus, R&D on different types of motors.

    • Brent Smith
      Brent Smith 9 days ago

SpaceX have known since 2016 that kerosene won't work for Mars: pbs.twimg.com/media/CtYhRXmXgAA-vZt.jpg:large
Which is why they have *already* developed the most advanced rocket engine ever specifically for Starship. It's a full flow staged combustion engine that runs on deep cryo methalox:

Can't call it a starship, unless it can go to another star. I guess that you can point and shoot this out there (Voyager is still going... er... V'ger...), but then it's just a probe. And I'm not sure that I would want to die of old age on the way, playing with the same set of checkers... ;-P

They can name it what they want, think about it the Saturn V never went to Saturn, and the space shuttle only went to low earth orbit. Look at the rockets like the Atlas V, Falcon 9, and the Vulcan there named after things that have nothing to do with what they do.

I think this is it, btw. Uhmm, what happens if theres an engine failure, what if the engine gets any ... idk, and what happens if the fuel doesnt go enough to reach to mars but only to the moon?, What happens if the Starship goes of reute? Im realy nervous whats gonna happen. its the first time and they seem like ( REALY ) just want to transport humans to moon and mars. wow..

      ŠQÛ!DƜȀRD T. 13 days ago

If only one engine failes, it won't be much loss of thrust because it has so many engines. And spaceX engines are pretty reliable. And it will have enough fuel, it will be calculated. Starship wont go off route, it will be checked constabtly.

    Hello!
I have an idea to increase the humidity in the air and create more ice around the globe. This would be a cheap investment and would reduce global warming. I am looking for investors and entrepreneurs to apply for the project from anywhere!
The name of the investors' company would be out of space.

I wonder if spacex reads all the comments. I think ive came up with a solution to immortality. As crazy as it may sound. Build a super ai machine that runs 3 programs. 1 for creating wireless electricity "tesla's answer" (alternative to nuclear energy which would reduce disasters and reduce contamination by air, land, sea) (meaning everyone would have access to unlimited free energy) the 2nd program would be for research and development. (Alternatively it could invent ships and other craft for transportation also fuel efficient lightspeed engines for exploring other galaxies that can use the energy/wireless electricity in the atmosphere (this would reduce gas/oil omissions on earth that would help with pollution in our atmosphere, but if we could achieve this we can build machines that could land on other planets with no life forms and generate electricity into its atmosphere that space ships can use as "gas stations" to recharge their energy banks. It could develope how to replace human organs with bionic organs that will run off the electricity in the atmosphere. We can integrate technology into our bodies such as bionic eyes for impressive sight, bionic legs that will make us run super fast and never get tired. Buonic arms to make working easier or lifting heavy object like 5 ton blocks. Kinda like our own iron man suits that uses the wireless energy in the atmosphere. The 3rd program would be for creating a galaxy defence system to protect our galaxy from incoming meteors/asteroids (like a death star) because some planets might be 10000times the size of the sun if not bigger. We wanna be able to turn it into smaller chunks and use our iron man robots to swarm those chunks and use their boosters in there suits to try to push massive planets off course to prevent it from smashing into any of our planets in our galaxy and prevent any of our planets from being thrown out into outer galaxies. Or maybe we can steal smaller planets that could be resourceful and make them moons of mars so we can extract their ores..

    • Bank Robber
Bank Robber 18 days ago +1

But ultimately we "as humans" would all have to fix ourselves. There will be people who would try to use the machine for their own personal greed, personal gain. War against one another would have to be a thing of the past. We would have to figure out a more peaceful way. (Like chess or go fish or backgammon) there will always be someone on this planet to will stand out. Its a fact tragedies change policies. Theres more than one way to do something. When people try the right way and get silenced, they handle things the wrong way and it brings awareness to a problem that could have been prevented.
