Where's the damn ICE???? One thing I hate when I'm back is you have to trick bartenders into making Ice Tea. "Do you have a pint glass?" "I do." "Can you fill it with ice?" "I can." "Can you dump that cup of tea in it?" "Ah, it's ice tea ye want. Me girlfriend studied in the American and she loves that shyte."

It's such a shame you were given yet another 'processed' American product. Many of us would never consider ingesting such a thing. None of that processed stuff in bottles or cans is 'American Tea.' I live in SW America, Arizona to be exact, and I refuse to drink what you lovely people were served. We simply place large tea bags in a huge jar filled with water and place in the sunlight to make sun tea with NO sugar!!!! It's the best. If one wishes, dried orange peels with cinnamon bark and cloves can be added to make a orange spice tea, or pick mint from the garden to add to the water and tea bags for a lovely mint tea. THAT is tea from SW USA. Enjoy with NO sugar.

Shudder. These are all fruit drinks made with tea. Over sweet and to me, somewhat chemical tasting. They'd all taste a lot better with vodka.
I[m an old fashioned southern boy. Iced tea is home brewed from orange pekoe, and sweetened to taste with sugar, served over Ice. Best drank on a warm day while sitting in the shade on a porch in an old fashioned rocking chair or a porch swing.

Lipton is British, but they are popular here (not a fan). I don't drink much sweet tea, but I do drink a lot of unsweetened tea. In my opinion, a lot of the unsweetened tea here is not great because Coke/Pepsi control the market, but there are a few good ones. Milo's is fantastic, though it's always in the refrigerated area as far as I know. Tejava is also great and on the level of Milo's. Both are not easy to find in my area. Unsweetened Snapple is alright, probably the best of the well known brands. Peak and Pure Leaf are the mass produced junk of the bottled tea world, though Pure Leaf is better than Peak. My main issue is the types of acid the big brands put into the tea which destroy the actual flavor of the tea. Citric acid and especially phosphoric acid make it taste terrible. The only stabilizer that doesn't mess things up is ascorbic acid, which brands in the USA don't like to use for whatever reason. In Japan it's used almost exclusively. Though in general bottled tea from Japan is great. We do have "Tea's Tea" here (ITO EN), though it's usually pricey and hard to find like Milo's and Tejava. I used to like Arizona and drink it on rare occasion, but as far as I know they don't make unsweetened tea and their sweet tea has a percentage of fake sugar in it now. One odd fact is that Arby's the fast food restaurant has great unsweetened tea. They used to sell it bottled, but not sure if they still do.

Being from the area where sweet tea was supposedly invented (near Summerville, SC), I not only find the bottled "teas" to be a joke, but also an embarrassment and a very sad attempt. Whether you're a Luzianne™ (the only sweet tea brand, imo) or Lipton fan (which is tolerable, kinda), real honest-to-goodness sweet tea isn't made with corn sweeteners, caramel coloring, powders, mixes, or chemicals. It's water, tea leaves, and sugar. That's it.
I can also say (as someone who only drinks sweet tea), there are different types when going out to a restaurant. There's Yankee tea (unsweet and unfit for drinking - pour directly down the sink, please), foot tea (when the tea is just starting to sour after being in an urn for too long... or the urn hasn't been properly cleaned - blyeck!), @$$ tea (no explanation necessary, I'm thinking), ghetto sweet tea (so sweet that you can't drink it... maybe it should be bottled and used as syrup for pancakes?), and regular ol' sweet tea (the good stuff).
But to my Irish friends, you were sold a falsehood. A hoax. A misrepresentation. (Sadly, too many Americans don't know the difference either.) Sorry this happened. Please visit SC so we can show you what real Southern food and beverages are supposed to taste like. If you gain a hundred pounds in the process, it's not our fault.

I’m from the Southern part of the US and sweet iced tea is my favorite drink. And you have to make it right down here or people riot lol. Anyway, with that being said, I despise fruit flavored teas. Especially bottled tea. All of those are terrible. I’d rather make my own. It’s the only way to do it right in the South. :3

Just an idea, but have you considered doing a Southern New England taste test? Just some ideas are: Clam cakes, New England clam chowder, Del's Lemonade, Autocrat coffee syrup, funnel cakes, steamed burgers, Cape Cod potato chips (original) B&M Boston baked beans (original) and Bakery (pan) pizza strips. PIzza strips is more of an Rhode Island thing as well as Del's lemonade. The strips have a thick crust, simple sauce and typically doesn't have any cheese, but sometimes has Parmesan cheese.
Sorry, went crazy with ideas. I'm not a drinker, but Samuel Adam's is a beer from Boston, not sure about any local craft beer or alcohol.
Hope to see more episodes soon
