I miss video rental stores...
this . . . was a really good video, thank you my dude
Bro, I just pirated my shit back then
penguinz0 leafy is back!
penguinz0 my local blockbuster became a church. So now people prey in a rental movie store building
Step 1. Go to GoogleStep 2. Search this keyword: 123moviesdailyproStep 3. Enjoy!BlockbusterWhen another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That's the message he is sending.Be careful of love. It'll twist your brain around and leave you thinking up is down and right is wrong.Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.Our lives were now worlds apart, separated by time, circumstance, and the unbridgeable chasm of money.
Which is Oregon
In my State we have the Last Blockbuster
6:14Every few months or so I see an article about "the last Blockbuster in America" and it's always in a different state. I think usually Alaska, but how many Blockbusters are there then?
All i ever got at BB was Bionicle and Pokemon lmao
I am from the future, 2024. Blockbuster will have already made a comeback. I cannot give out too much detail as to what made them the kings of the world again but take heed and remember, in roughly five years, Blockbuster will be back on top!
isn't there still one left?
The blockbuster i went to turned into a autozone
takes 5 seconds to sync up your mouth with the audio
I remember going to a blockbuster once around 2004 or something when I was about 4. It was such a weird experience. There was absolutely not a single soul in the building other than one dude behind the counter. Kinda weird when I think about it. That was one of my first memories
0:11 uhhh..... maybeee
I live like 10 minutes from blockbuster bend. A pilgrimage you must all make
i feel like this is the 3rd Blockbuster video youve made
Hey Charlie man this was a really well put together video. I feel like your well suited to content like this vid and you do a great job making it interesting thanks
RedBox and Netflix tag teamed Blockbuster lmao
My TES IV: Oblivion copy still has a blockbuster sticker on it :')
Wait Blockbuster shut down??? How did i not realize!??!
I think I miss Blockbuster... but we still have FamilyVideo and I haven't stepped foot in that place in years. Are we really missing anything?... other than a bit of nostalgia? The Blockbusters in my town are gone or look like some shit out of Jurassic Park. Before they went out, I was buying movies and games from them for $.50-1.00 and I still have them, just no use for them now :(
If your cousin makes you meet him behind a dumpster to cop hes a dickhead
I remember when my Blockbuster closed. I didn't understand why. I loved it there so much as a kid. They were having a huge sale of everything since they were closing and I ended up buying the entire Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon. That's all I have left of my poor blockbuster. Now it's a hardware store.
I like this animation this looks good something new
Remember Hollywood Video?
tbh I found out about netflix from blockbuster
I was about to say the same thing about GameStop until Charlie made a comment about it. It's dying too we're all just waiting for the ball to drop and GameStop files bankruptcy.
EveryoneS dreams are weird lately OMG
Hollywood Video was better
Blockbuster was really a part of my childhood. I was mostly strung along by my dad when we as a family went to get movies to rent, but I remember way up past 2005ish getting movies and games from there until they closed one day out of blue, me forgetting that we did that. Brick and motor is so old fashioned and non-profit nowadays, but even if it's awkward I love face to face interaction.
Digital online services are garbage as shit now think of it. Most require a subscription which blockbuster did also, BUT. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon all have either exclusive rights to SHOWS not movies that only keep money coming in. Most of these streaming services have mostly GARBAGE or a couple semi decent movies. Blockbuster on the other hand? They had all the brand new movies right on the one side of the wall. A multiple variety of movies sections left and right, don't even include videogames. The experience got people off the lazy couch to get some input of what to watch tonight with the family. That in of itself is sad. I don't deny some benefits to netflix. I just remember a lot more variety and sections to choose from. Netflix swears after its subscription increase there would be more and better movies, yet i've yet to see really any improvement. It's sad Rip blockbuster come back.
Yea dealing with Enron in 1999 probably didn't help
I still have my copy of DkS 1 with a blockbuster sticker on it; it's been 8 years that fee is gonna rip me a new one
i prefer the facecam than the generic "character slides"i dont knowyou just nail the facecam everytime
Curse you ENRON! How many lives did you take?
Think about Blockbuster every now and then while driving past a dollar store near me that used to be a Blockbuster.
Growing up my family mostly used Redbox and Netflix (back when they mailed you the movies). We went to a Blockbuster when it was shutting down and we bought dozens of movies on the cheap. Still use Redbox.
Very good video but was extremely surprised you didn’t also mention Redbox! Those guys we’re popping up at every corner drugstore and grocery, and we’re renting out movies much cheaper than Blockbuster. I remember as a kid seeing Blockbuster trying the same thing and creating their own personal “Redbox machines” and thinking to myself even then that it was so silly for them to even try considering Netflix was becoming more popular and Redbox already had a strong hold on the video rental market.
i miss blockbuster ):
NiceMake more vids like this
We didn't have a blockbuster in my town, we had a Family Video. It's still open today and advertising cbd oil vape pens on their sign.
It didn't fail, it was simply outlived. Dumb video.
I remember renting fuckin games there it was sick
Blockbuster should come back with rooms to watch movies and if you are a lazy fuck they can uber eats the dvds so nobody has late fees.
Brick and Mortar sounds like a Rick and Morty parody.
and just like that his lips arent synced with the audio
someone bought the blockbuster up the road from me and kept the name and the business and its still going strong
I like this format :)
Your voice is out of sync for some parts in the video, but that aside this is a great video essay/analysis.
Looking forward to your How Netflix took it's dirt nap video in a few years, Charlie. Wonder what's coming next, because streaming services are going to be spread so thin and expensive. Nobody is going to even remember which service the show they want to watch is on, and they're going to be paying twice what they used to for cable to get them all.
They got offered full ownership of Netflix TWICE. If blockbuster had bought Netflix at ANY point then it would have survived.
Man, I never really thought about it but it's weird thinking about going to blockbuster as a freshman in high school and by senior year it's just *gone*
I thought it was Red Box....
That last Blockbuster in Oregon closed in March1 like = 1 cry
10 out of 10 better than morgz
I'm from Ireland and we had are own version of blockbuster called extra vision
You really had to "research" why Blockbuster failed? It's pretty obvious... Nobody buys or rents physical media anymore.
these animations are cringe. You're not leafy.
Loved the vid, could I do something like this for toys R us?
It’s funny... i just came from a depressing climate change Video and Blockbusters story somehow fits. It had the methods to save itself, but it underestimated the speed of what was happening.
Fun fact: The last blockbuster stays open only to the pizza place next door so people will get pizza and then rent a movie for the night for the family or a drunk night alone.
Actually I thought about Blockbuster last weekAlright, stop wasting your time here.
I don't have the internet to stream things. I still use the Netflix DVD service and I get all my console games from Game Stop.Once the Netflix DVD service goes away, we will be stuck buying movies from the store or online depending on the age of the movie. I need these services and it's a shame to hear about them dying.
Shout out to all the grandpas that remember GameFly 👍
One thing I would always ask almost everyday after school to my friends around 2007 was" Would anyone like to accompany me to Blockbuster?" Then we would just chill and look at the movies for a while and talked about random stuff. They had bean bags too. Good times.
Wow! That is relatable!
I was born in 99 so I'm a bit late to the whole Blockbuster craze, but I do remember in the early 2010s when I lived in San Jose my mom and I went to a shutting down Blockbuster to browse and buy out the rest of what they were trying to sell off and even though I never really knew the place, I just felt this very strange and sad feeling of emptiness. The shelves picked clean and the employees just.... Ready to go, but not ready at the same time. It was very melancholy.
I saw a classmate of mine wear a blocker shirt and this got recommended to me
i always had a grievance against blockbuster bc they were more expensive than the local video shack but blockbuster had more options so it was sometimes a necessary evil.... though lots of good memories with my dad going around to the different video rental places after school on friday looking for a movie to watch over the weekend
Family Video is the goat now
My family was blockbuster till the end as well
I miss blockbuster
I still have a PlayStation 1 Rugrats game with the good old Blockbuster sticker on it. I literally have a fossil on my hands boys.
for one of many times, "video killed the radio star" popped into my head.
Really like the animation style dude
Blockbuster was too rich for my family. We did our business at Hollywood Video and West Coast Video
It was Family Video for us. They still have a store in my town.
