Tbh I think everyone kinda has their code switch, like I feel like everyone acts differently in different situations. Maybe not exactly code switch like what they’re referring to but like something similar. Because I don’t think people act the same around friends verses around coworkers

It’s ridiculous how we literally are all watching a video where people respectfully disagree and calmly explain why the think or feel the way they do, but have a comment section, directly below, so full of pettiness, trolling, and conflict. We need to do better. Black people, white people, and every color in between.

When I was younger I would change the way I spoke, my tone of voice, and the words I used whenever I encountered a white person or anyone who wasn't black. I used to believe that they would think I was less educated or "ghetto" since this is a common stereotype for black women. However, since college the only time I change the way I speak is at work. I know that I am intelligent and worthy and I no longer fear being judged, especially by random ass people lol. I know now that using slang or speaking a certain way does not make me less than. In short, I'm now comfortable with being myself.

In Norway there is a 3 year bachelor's degree to become a police and the school is difficult to get into. It is crazy to me that you in the US can take some short courses and then get the have so much power over others.

I’m sorry but black people have the highest crime rate I don’t think police hate black people I think they profile because they know the stats for example if you see someone walking down the street with an AR15 sure they aren’t doing anything wrong it’s well within there rights but there a lot more likely to do something wrong no? So if we know a certain group of people are more likely to commit a crime then surely we should keep a closer eye on them, no?

Great video!! Code switching, that is real! White people don’t have to do this, they’re culture is the dominant one based on numbers. Black culture and the beauty of it is that we are so creative and so adverse through our struggles that our culture although we are smaller in numbers is very potent and enduring on the human level bc what human being can’t relate to struggle. The answer is none, and black ppl all we know is the struggle and how to survive and that is what makes us strong and our ppl strong and being strong makes us attractive. There may be races that fear us out of ignorance or lack of exposure but Ik they know our music, our food, our players, our entertainment and our culture if they live in America. There may be Racist ppl who hate black ppl for no reason but they will put some respect in there voice when actually speaking to us 👌🏾

But ... but the Minoans wore dreadlocks, the Cretans wore dreadlocks, various ancient Greek cultures wore dreadlocks from time to time, the Egyptians in certain places wore dreadlocks, certain Native American cultures have worn dreadlocks, many Indian cultures traditionally wore (and wear) dreadlocks, Australian aboriginal cultures often have worn and do wear dreadlocks, certain Tibetan Buddhist sects wear and have worn dreadlocks ...
Lots of cultures have worn dreadlocks throughout history. "White," "black," and everything in between, so to speak.
I'm a bit confused on this one.

European history provides several examples of dreadlocked hairstyles.
Indo-Aryans (ancestors of Iranians, Aryan castes of India, Slavs, and Germans among others) depicted their gods, ad their kings with dreadlike locks on both hair and beards.
Celts often greased their hair into (according to Roman sources) greased and chalked locks that "looked like snakes".
Scythians, who invaded Europe during Migration Period DID wore single dreads, usually behind right ear. It is well documented in sculptures.
Zaporozhian Cossacks (who, to some degree descend from Varangian/Viking Rus, and Scythians) used to wear "oseledec" a single lock above forehead, either in a form of a greased up knot, or straight up dreadlock.
The strongest example of all (as well as the most well documented hairstyle in scientific literature) is the "Polish plait" an amulet-dreadlock, in different shapes and forms. It was a part of Slavic pagan magic, transfered into Polish folk beliefs and hairstyles, and survived up to XIX century. Ii was also represented in other European cultures: "Hexenzopf"-"witch-lock" among Germans, "elflock" on British Isles.
TLDR: You have a strong case to defend the idea, that some Vikings, especially those from Jomsborg, Truso, Volgian Rus, or Volin, or anywhere near Slavs, would wear "lucky charm" dreadlocks, borrowing this fashion from Slavs/Poles, especially since many Vikings were descendants of Slavic "seawives"-captured women. Since the plait was associated with withcraft, protection and female misticism in Slavic culture, it is not a stretch that your Viking could have had a plait made by his Slavic mom or wife. Full head of dreads might be harder to defend historically, but cannot be dismissed either.
A SIDENOTE: Just remembered that accidentally, the word koltun/koldun in medieval Slavic languages means both a dreadlock-like lock of hair, as well as "sorcerer". A stretch from Norse sorcery and paganism, but given how much those two cultures influenced one another...
