You guys should do a review on the Mobile Studio Pro 16 i7. :D
4k monitor, 8k pressure levels sensitivity pen, 3D sensor scanner, 512gb ssd, Quadro M1000M 4GB GDDR5. Also, it's running all on windows 10.
Also, I need a proper solution in making it more portable. I am liking your guys reviews on the Ipad, Surface, and this Chrome Slate, all of those have what I want but the pen and windows is a really big deal for me. The surface feels like you're using a crayon, and the iPad doesn't have that... what's that called? Easy access to my files. Also the pencil doesn't have a button to pan around 3D models. HOWEVER, all of these things have what I need; a longer battery life, lighter and more portable, probably some form of water resistant solution, and a case with a nice keyboard built in (the chrome thing looks sucky but still better than what I have now.) I'm petrified of transporting this thing anywhere even in a light mist of rain in my backpack under protective layers.
I am considering selling it and going back to my standard tablet and just try making either the surface or the ipad pencil work (the pen coupled with 4k display, and the usb3 ports are the only things keeping me on the fence about selling.)

iPad Pro: Best tablet ever; not so good for replacing a laptop for most people.
Surface Pro: Great laptop for having a tablet form factor, not so good at being a tablet.
Pixel Slate: Claims to be the best of both worlds, ended being huge ass lie.
Overall, this why 2 in 1s don't work. I've owned a 2 in 1 before, and I always just use the most developed part of that device, wasting the other flagship feature. It's better to just keep the product categories separate. Personally, I prefer for a company to simply increase the capabilities of one of the categories of the device and make it more versatile. Surprisingly enough, Apple is actually closer to this than Microsoft or Google. Their iPad Pro is by far the most versatile tablet ever created. Not it's not laptop-levels of versatility, but it is getting there, and hopefully iOS 13 does make it be like that versatile tablet that can replace many pros' laptops without heavy adjustments.
Google could have easily done this before Apple if they just optimized their Android apps to the hardware of the Pixel Slate and make Chorme OS more touch friendly. But no, they only did the half measure of slapping on the play store in to chrome OS, removed the keyboard and trackpad, and sold the device as a tablet that can be a laptop, assuming you buy the $200 keyboard cover. Honestly, Google simply doesn't try hard with hardware. They should really just stick to the search engine and their office features.

IPad: brilliant Tablet which could replace a PC if you are a light user. Has the best pen input. Can't use full desktop apps.
Pros: Peak Tablet perfection. Best Pen Input.
Surface Pro: powerful PC(not for gaming) which can be a good tablet for note taking and designing.
Pros: Full Windows functionality with a good pen input.
Pixel Slate: tablet with a shit keyboard. Pen input isn't as good as the iPad.
Has an OS which can be comparable to a
Desktop OS but is no where near the functionality of Windows or MacOS.
    Pros: _Crickets Chirping_
Cons: OS isn't as good as Mac OS or Windows for a fully desktop experience and it isn't Android for a better tablet experience. It tries to be a laptop and a tablet but fails at both

They work, I know this, but I doubt they're legal and dont really understand how the average jo is supposed to know if they buy a system with, for example "Windows 10 Pro" successfully activated that it is not a legit copy.

Also most of the Android apps world very well, Microsoft word, Excel along with Google docs, sheets, slides I have a host of choices. With 8Gb Ram and cloud back your I find 128 GB shortage more than sufficient. Now the Linux also works with pixel book... I love the pixel book and I am happy with what it is offering and it is absolutely great

Chrome OS is amazing. I have yet to find anything other than Steam that I can't do on it, but then again why would I want steam on a laptop in the first place, unless I'm dropping thousands on a gaming laptop? My favorite part is just how fast it is. I have a $500 Samsung Chromebook Plus that I got for $300 that literally can shut all the way down and boot up in 10 seconds.

    • Steven Hiller
      Steven Hiller 3 months ago

The issue is when people are talking about specs, I agree, Google has no business asking for thousands for these things. A Chromebook doesn't need a Core i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. When optimized correctly it should be able to operate perfectly on an Intel Celeron or M3 and 4gb of RAM. We don't need those high specs because there should be nothing on a Chromebook pushing it that far. In fact there should be nothing on a Windows laptop pushing it that hard except for the windows operating system and perhaps Steam and Photoshop.

  • Dr. Leonard Hofstadter SAVAGE FAM

I agree Linus, a $1000 for 128GB of storage. Hell no! For me, I buy laptops with quad cores. 1TB hard drive, features that are my preferences. I just brought a 3TB External hard drive, 3 days ago. For my laptop, I love that you buy things like that. It's what I need, I don't like cramming things on my laptop hard drive. But I still use my laptop hard drive, little bit.

Google should price thier products better and decide what to do with the Chrome OS.
    Also, the end was great.
Google never too Desktop and Laptops seriously. They are paying now. The ecosystem is not there.
Apple has it and they are shining their big teeth on everyone.
Microsoft gave up. Now Google is quickly trying to bring Chrome OS back to life. They have done pretty terific things, put it is looking a pretty uphill climb with Fuschia launching around 2022.
